MFA in RDM

avatar

Posting on behalf of rdmuser2024, they ask:

hi, about rdm mfa
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/knowledge-base/how-to-articles/enable-mfa-for-users
is it per user or per program?
meaning, if i have rdm installed on desktop and laptop (same rdm user)
and i go to In Administration – System Settings – Vault Management – Security Settings – Security, check Force workspace multifactor configuration to enable it.
and i do that only on laptop

will my desktop requires mfa from now on? or it's just my laptop?

thank you

Hello Laurence,

Thank you for reaching out!

MFA is a workspace-level setting, not a per-machine one. It's stored in the workspace itself, so enabling it affects every RDM installation connecting to that workspace, including both your desktop and your laptop.

With that being said, this option is not available when using a Devolutions Server Workspace. In that case, MFA enforcement is managed directly from the Devolutions Server Web interface.

I will attach our KB article for more information: https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/getting-started/workspaces/multifactor-authentication

Please let us know if you have further questions!

Best regards,

Sam
