Selecting Session from Navigation Pane when Opened with Template

Hello,

Not sure if this is a bug or not - it seems if I open a session type, say SSH, with a different template type one time (say, a website template), then if I select that entry in the Navigation pane while it's open but a different tab is focused, it doesn't seem to focus the tab for that session (the one that was opened with the template).

If the default session type for that entry is opened, then selecting it in the Navigation pane does activate that tab.

Should it be doing the same when the entry is opened with an alternate template?

Interestingly, it seems to work fine on "host" entries where we have multiple templates linked (including if a website template is linked). It only seems to be an issue if an entry of a specific type is opened with a template of another type.

This is on RDM v2026.1.16.0 using SQL Server data source.

Thanks for the detailed write-up.
Selecting an entry in the Navigation pane should focus its open tab regardless of which template was used to launch it.

To help us reproduce it, could you confirm a couple of things:

  • Does it also happen in the reverse direction (e.g. a Website entry opened with an SSH template)?
  • Does it matter how the alternate template is launched (split-button dropdown, templates menu, drag-and-drop, etc.)?
  • Do you see the same behavior against a local data source, or only on SQL Server?
