VMware Synchronizer – Filter by Tag (inclusion filter)

Currently, the VMware Synchronizer entry in Remote Desktop Manager only supports filtering virtual machines by their inventory folder path ("Filter by group"). While useful, this approach is limited because it requires VMs to be physically organized in specific folders in vCenter to achieve selective synchronization.
VMware vSphere supports a native tagging system that allows administrators to assign one or more tags to virtual machines regardless of their folder location. Tags are widely used in enterprise environments to classify VMs by environment (e.g., Production, Test, DR), by customer, by OS type, by criticality, or by any other custom attribute.

We would like to request the addition of a "Filter by tag" option in the VMware Synchronizer settings, allowing RDM to synchronize only the virtual machines that have one or more specified vSphere tags assigned.

We use tags as primary classification system and not vCenter folder hierarchy in a way that maps to RDM synchronization needs

Hello,

Thank you for the request. I think this makes sense. I know in the past, we also received a request to synchronize the tags, so this goes hand in hand to me. I will open a ticket for this. At the moment I can't give you an estimate on when we will be working on this, but I'd like if we could get to some VMWare synchronizer improvements eventually, as this is a feature a lot of our users make use of.
