Sudden High CPU Load and RAM-Usage

Sudden High CPU Load and RAM-Usage

Hi,
we use an older Version (14.0.11) of RDM and from yesterday to today we had the Issue, that on Startup on all machines the application takes between 80% and 100% of CPU and allocates up to 22 GB of RAM (if the machine it runs on has enough). After a time a popup appears asking if a script should be executed further. If this is answered with no, RDM can be used but very slow and laggy, the high RAM consuptions stays. The issue didnt appear on machines without internet connection. This led us to blocking some IPs RDM tries to connect to on startup, which resolved the issue.
My guess is, something got changed on the Backend RDM connects to for update checking or something else which leads to a kind of loop in our Version.

Would be nice if this could be undone, so we wouldnt have to block the IPs further.

Best Regards,
FR

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed information regarding the issue.

Based on what you described, it appears you are currently using Remote Desktop Manager version 14.0.11, which is quite outdated. Unfortunately, due to the age of this version, we are no longer able to fully support or investigate issues specific to it. Behavior like high CPU and memory usage especially tied to external connectivity can be caused by multiple factors, including backend changes, update services, or compatibility issues that have since been resolved in newer versions.

At this point, the best and most reliable recommendation would be to upgrade to the latest version of Remote Desktop Manager, where these types of issues are actively maintained and fixed.

If you'd like, I’d be happy to assist you with the upgrade process. We can schedule a remote session to ensure everything goes smoothly and minimize any disruption.

Let me know how you’d like to proceed.

Best regards,

Carl Marien

Hello @b2k ,

The issue appears to be resolved on versions 11, 12 and 13, as one of our members no longer experiences the problem.

Please try it out and let us know if the application is now working and stable.

Thank you for your collaboration.
