Hello,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please provide more details about the issue you’re experiencing with SSH? For example:

  • Where exactly are you seeing this message?
  • Are you trying to connect through Remote Desktop Manager or another SSH client?
  • What is the exact error message shown?
  • If possible, could you attach a screenshot of the full error or provide the steps to reproduce the issue?

With a bit more information, we’ll be able to assist you more effectively.

Best regards,

Carl Marien

I have an old Cisco switch.
It only accepts Telnet and SSH version 1.
How do I enable SSH version 1?
I understand how to enable Telnet.

I trying to connect through Remote Desktop Manager

Hello,

Thank you for the clarification.

Unfortunately, the information provided is still not enough for me to properly assist. Since SSH version 1 is deprecated and insecure, support can vary depending on the exact Cisco model and firmware version.

Could you please provide the following information:

  1. The exact model of the Cisco switch
  2. The firmware / IOS version
  3. The exact error message shown in Remote Desktop Manager
  4. A screenshot of the connection error, if possible

Without this information it is difficult to determine whether the issue is related to the device, the supported algorithms, or the SSH version.

In the meantime, you can also try enabling all legacy algorithms in RDM:
File → Settings → Entry Types → Sessions → Terminal → Algorithm Support

This will allow older SSH negotiation methods that may be required by very old devices.

Best regards,

Carl Marien
