RDM Free 2026.1.10.0 freezes -- 2026.1.9.0 doesn't

Hi,

I upgraded RDM Free from 2025.3.32.0 directly to 2026.1.10.0 on a Windows 11 Pro machine.

After the upgrade finished and the updated version was started, the program window freezes and the cursor hovering over it turns into the famous hourglass.

Here's what the program window looks like when it freezes:

Uninstalling 2026.1.10.0 and manually installing 2026.1.9.0 from https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/download/previous-versions/ works fine, so I have to stay on 2026.1.9.0 for now.

Any suggestions how to fix the issue with 2026.1.10.0?

Cheers,
Wolfram

Hi Wolfram,

Thank you for the detailed report and for sharing the screenshot.

To help us investigate the issue further, could you please let us know what type of data source you are using in Remote Desktop Manager?

Also, could you please test the portable edition of version 2026.1.10 and let us know whether you see the same behavior there as well?

You can find the instructions to download and run the portable version here:
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/kb/how-to-articles/portable-rdm-installation/

In addition, if there is any other information you think may be relevant, please feel free to share it, especially if there is anything particular or unusual about the Windows 11 setup on that machine.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Alexis Geller Peiro

Hi Alexis!

I'm using the default data source (SQLite).

I moved %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager away (adding the suffix .bak), so RDM Portable would start without an existing DB.
I downloaded the RDM Portable 2026.1.10.0 ZIP file, unpacked it and started the contained RemoteDesktopManager.exe.
First, it asks to choose a data source -- I choose "Skip", so it initializes a fresh SQLite DB.
Then, I see a window that seems to apply some DB migrations (or similar). That window vanishes after a short while.
The main window remains and the application is frozen, just like the non-portable, installed version of 2026.1.10.0.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

v2026.1.11 is now available. Oddly, there’s no mention of the fix in the release notes, but my fix is included in this version. I’ll double-check why it’s missing from the notes, probably something went wrong on my side when I closed the ticket.
