RDM crash copying files via TSClient

RDM crash copying files via TSClient

avatar

Hi,
We are experiencing intermittent issues when copying files via the RDM client.

  • RDM Version: 2025.3.28.0
  • Frequency: Reproducible and occurs often, but not every time
  • Scenario:
    1. Connect to an Azure VM via Azure Bastion using the RDM client
    2. Copy an ISO file from \\tsclient\C\Temp to C:\Temp inside the VM

Observed behavior:
During the copy operation, the RDM console frequently becomes unresponsive and then crashes (the application closes automatically).

I'm only able to reproduce the issue with Azure bastion sessions, not with standard RDP sessions to any local hosted VM.

Is this a known issue, and can you reproduce it on your side?
Please advise on the recommended next steps for troubleshooting, including which logs we should collect, whether this is a known bug, and any suggested configuration changes or workarounds.

Many thanks.

Hello

Sorry to hear about the issue. This caught my attention because I maintain the Azure Bastion integration, but it's hard to know why that could cause this. It does sound related if you don't get the problem without Azure Bastion.

I'll need a bit more information from you:

  • What is the "connection mode" you're using for the Azure Bastion? If it's "Default", please check what you have in File > Settings > Entry Types > VPN/Tunnel/Gateway > Azure Bastion
  • Is there a corresponding event(s) written to the Windows event viewer when this happens? There should be. Please share that with me.
  • Can you check for a corresponding .dmp file in %localappdata%\crashdumps? Let me know if you have one, but don't post it here. I'll provide instructions to share that privately. This is important as it should clearly show what's causing the crash.

Please, let me know if you have any questions or something isn't clear

Kind regards,

Richard Markievicz
