Suggestions to reduce power usage.

We are testing RDM via mdm (intune) on 2 Samsung A11+ tablet) for use. The test users are connecting via VNC to a couple of remote locations to monitor some equipment. They are complaining about short battery life, and granted, the particular tablet isn't fantastic in that regard, it still should be better than they experience.

We already use this tablet for another department, who uses it in the same way, but they do not use RDM. I was looking for any suggestions to help reduce the power usage in RDM if possible

Hi,

You can start by checking the application's battery usage by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Usage. A list of applications will be displayed along with the total battery usage next to each one, giving you a general idea of how much battery each app has used. When you select RDM, you'll see the Background time, which shows how long the app has been active in the background.

You can also manage screen brightness, as the screen is the top source of battery drain on tablets. Use Adaptive Brightness or manually keep it below 50%.

Additionally, you can switch the app to dark theme if it isn't already set. Go to Settings > General > Theme and choose Dark Theme or Same as device if your device is already using a dark theme.

We also see that the data usage is above normal on these test devices, so im thinking perhaps there are settings we can change to stop it from polling or running in the background. And this will perhaps also help with the power usage?

Hello,

When the application goes into the background, are you still connected to the remote session? If so, and if you are not using any push notification features in our application, you can try turning off notifications. This should disable the foreground service (the service that allows the connection to remain open and active in the background for a much longer time than usual).

Please keep in mind that this will most likely close the remote session when you return to the application.
