Sometimes the button for creating a new entry is missing from the vault tab and reappears only on a refresh.

Hi, I quickly tested new version, and while the create button is there, there seams to be an issue with the play button. Pressing it doesn't open the dialog for username and password. The issue seams to be related to navigation between application views. I can fix it by plugging the device to PC - probably some configuration change resets the UI's the internal state. When I use quick connect and connect from there - RDP connection works as expected.

Doing a recording is tricky, because by default the rdm app restricts video capture and by the time I enable it by going into rdm settings the bug conditions are met, whatever they are. Here are steps from clean install with clear data (in landscape on a tablet, so 2 pane layout is active):

  • enbale telemetry
  • skip app password dialog
  • create data source-> other ->xml -> ok
  • uncheck always ask for master key -> give name "xml" -> save with floppy disk icon in top right
  • system theme, skip email and promotions
  • done
  • allow notifications from popup
  • add entry -> rdp
  • give name (win10-0 in my case) and change display setting to current working area size, dynamic resolution
  • save with floppy drive icon
  • refresh the left pane list, to make the added entry appear (I consider it in itself a bug)
  • click the crated entry
  • click play button -> now connection dialog opens -> cancel entering creds -> click ok in error dialog
  • open hamburger menu in top left
  • settings
  • sessions
  • rdp
  • enable auto scale factor
  • go back
  • go back
  • go back
  • click no in exit rdm dialog (UX issue, it should redirect to a vault screen, from which hamburger was pressed, that's what I expect at least)
  • click vault in bottom bar
  • the 2 pane layout is visible, but the right side is empty, only a title, no information like creation time (next ui bug)
  • go back on the right pane by clicking the back arrow in the top left of right pane so dashboard is visible
  • select entry from left pane -> populates right pane correctly
  • close the app by going to recents and swiping it away
  • open it again, and instead of the last opened connection on the right pane dashboard is shown (idk if it is intended behavior)
  • select entry in left pane -> it populates the right pane, but only 2 action buttons at the bottom of right pane are visible - play and 3 dot button
  • clicking play does nothing
  • 3 dots have option open at the top of the menu - does nothing.

I am not sure what are the conditions to undo this, but it seams to fix after some obscure combination of going into different views in the app, plugging the tablet to a pc, rotating the screen and closing and reopening the app. Clearing cache doesn't fix it.

Thank you for the clear step-by-step guide. The issue with the Entry Overview being emptied after accessing the application settings is a known bug and is expected to be resolved in the coming weeks.

Regarding the button issues, we were unable to reproduce either the malfunctioning "Open Session" option or the missing action buttons in the Entry Overview. We recommend performing a clean installation of the application, attempting to reproduce the issues, and sending us the application logs. You can retrieve them by navigating to the main menu > Help and Support > Application Logs, and sharing them either here or privately via direct message, which you can access by hovering your mouse over my profile picture.

Out of curiosity, which tablet are you currently using? It’s possible the issue is device-specific, so if you can, please try using a different model to see if the issue persists.

I don't have any logs to share. I see modal with: "Error There are no logs" when I press "Application logs".
I tried with clearing app data (the same as reinstall) and following the same steps like in my previous message until point allow notifications from popup.
Then I navigated to settings to disable screenshot restriction and took the video from then on.
I have oneplus pad 3 tablet with android 16 (api 36) but I have the same issue on my phone - android 11, so it's not device specific.

Also just a meta question/ feature request for the forum, can you make it show what is the attachment size limit? It is a cat and mouse game to guess how much I have to compress the video with ffmpeg to fit. After attaching a file it should reject too large files and tell the size limit, before trying to upload them to your servers. Now it errors out only after it is uploaded to your servers, with "The page was not displayed because the request entity is too large." for POST request.

I'll jump in for you meta forum request. I have created a ticket on the forum backlog to improve that flow and making it easier to manage larger file upload. I can't give you a precise ETA right now, but I can let you know once an update including this improvement is rolled out.

Thank you all, you are very responsive and helpful. Not something that is common nowadays in the era of AI chatbots. The main issues so adding entry and connecting are resolved! I haven't checked the small ones. Right now the RDM is fully usable with touch interface and pen/stylus, although there are some inconsistencies with a keyboard, mouse and touchpad and app navigation like buggy fullscreen, but they are minor inconveniences that can be fixed by a user action, so nothing major. I will try to create new bug reports to not overload this thread. Overall RDM on android is now working better than the official Windows app from MS, especially in split screen and free-form windowed mode after dynamic resolution fixes to RDM.

I forgot to mention, I didn't receive any mail notification for any message after this one I am replying to. I didn't unsubscribe from the thread (not knowingly at least), nor have I found anything in spam, so I checked myself the thread today, because of the silence, to found out there were more messages to read. We have been able to reproduce the issue where, in certain circumstances, the connection list must be refreshed in order to display a newly added entry. This is a bug and it will be fixed in our upcoming March release.
