Slow/1-line mouse wheel scrolling in Vim/Less within SSH session
Hi there,
I am experiencing very slow mouse wheel scrolling (only 1 line per scroll action) when using applications like vim or less inside an RDM SSH terminal session.
It works fine in the general command line (bash prompt) but slows down when in those applications. It also works perfectly fine when I use MobaXterm to connect to the same server, so the server configuration seems correct.
I have already tried setting "Force scrolling history when using mouse wheel" to False in the general options, but the issue persists.
How can I configure RDM to send the correct scroll commands (e.g., 3 lines at a time) to vim/less?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
Thank you for your message.
I attempted to reproduce the slow mouse wheel scrolling behavior in Vim using an SSH session, but I was not able to recreate the issue on my side.
To help narrow down the cause, could you please try opening a file using nano within the same SSH session and check whether the scrolling issue also occurs there? This will help us determine whether the behavior is specific to Vim or affects other terminal-based applications as well.
Once you’ve had a chance to test this, feel free to let me know the results and we’ll continue troubleshooting from there.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
Hi Carl,
Thanks for the quick reply. I installed nano and I'm experiencing the same scrolling issue..
Hello,
I tried to reproduce the issue again but was unable to do so. Could you please let me know which Linux distribution you're using and how exactly you installed RDM? Was it via Flatpak?
Best regards,
Carl Marien
