Cloud dependency

avatar

Hello! Today's incident with Cloudflare has shown that RDM is totally dependent on Cloud health and Internet access. I could not launch any session, getting some error message about http code 500.

In my opinion, this architecture is wrong and has to be reworked. Sessions/password/etc should be kept on user's PCs and only synced with the cloud in the moments when the cloud (Devolutions Hub) is available. RDM testing should include scenarios when there is no access to the cloud, it returns error 500 and so on.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

A solution is already available to have access to your data in RDM if the Hub Business is unreachable.
https://docs.devolutions.net/hub/web-interface/administration/management/users/offline-mode/

Additionally, you can follow these instructions for a disaster recovery plan.
https://docs.devolutions.net/hub/kb/knowledge-base/disaster-recovery-hub/

Let us know if that helps.

I am using Hub Personal, not Hub Business

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

With a Hub Personal data source, you could export your entries in an .RDM file and import it into a SQLite local data source.

In other words, I should stop using your cloud, because you don't want to make it right :-) Ok, that's clear, thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

There is an offline mode with Hub Personal that you could configure. This way, if there is any problem that prevents you from connecting to the cloud, such as an internet outage, you can still have access to your data. Here is the online documentation on how to enable it.
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/data-sources/offline-mode/hub-personal-offline-mode/

Please let us know if that option will keep you using our products!

Enable this for all users, there is no point in turning this off by default

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

I'll ask our development team, and they will think about what they can do for the Hub Personal data source.

Hello,

Thank you for your recommendation.

Since September 2025, all newly created Hubs, personal or business, have the offline mode option enabled by default.

Please let us know if you have any more questions about this.
