Menu is terrible

Sorry to point that out, but program menu is absolutely the worst I've ever seen.
There's a lot of advanced stuff in there most people don't ever use and the basic stuff is hidden in the worst places possible. F.e. Close navigation sidebar and try to open a new session, or return the navigation sidebar. It takes forever to find that, because it's put in the least likely place.
Please just remove the current menu and create a new one from scratch.

Hello,

Are you a single user or do you use RDM in a team? I would be curious to know what menus you think are superfluous and too advanced to be put at the forefront. A few screen captures would be very helpful.

As for closing the navigation pane and not easily finding how to open it again, we will see what we can do to make it more obvious how to bring it back, or maybe warn before closing it.
