RDP Connections to Ubuntu

avatar

The last few weeks I have noticed that when connecting to Ubuntu via RDP, Remote Desktop Manager becomes very sluggish (to the point of unusability). As of this morning I am also having issues with the host's clipboard functionality (also only when connected to Ubuntu). Disconnect from the Ubuntu sessions (leaving Windows sessions open) and everything is fine.

Is this a known issue, and/or do I have something misconfigured? Any assistance would be welcome.

Hey,
Thanks for reaching out!
I’ve tested a few RDP connections to Linux on my side but wasn’t able to reproduce the issue you described. To help us investigate further, could you please let us know the following:

  • The current version of Remote Desktop Manager you're using
  • The type of data source you're connected to
  • Whether you're using any custom settings in your RDP entry that differ from the default configuration

This information will help us better understand your setup and identify what might be causing the issue.
Looking forward to your reply!
Best regards,
Stephan

Good morning, Stephan - answers below.

  • 2025.2.29.0 64-bit (PreJIT)
  • Local source, connecting to Ubuntu via RDP
  • No custom settings, just auth

I can tell you that after I removed the whole suite and reinstalled yesterday, and if I did each Ubuntu session one at a time (rather than reopening from previous) I was able to get it working well. This morning running the software and restoring previous sessions I didn't have the same issues either. So maybe a "ghost in the machine" and/or solved by reinstalling...?

Hey, thank you for following up!
It sounds like the reinstall may have cleared out whatever was haunting your sessions—whether it was a configuration conflict or just a ghostly glitch.
Either way, I’m glad everything is stable again.
Should the ghost return, we’ll be ready to investigate further.
Have a nice day,
Stephan
