Opening Document using the "View" button, sets write protected flag

I've recently noticed that documents became randomly write protected.
Until I saw that RDM is setting the write protected flag, as I have a document linked inside RDM for easy access.
Something that also seems weird is that if I add that document again but with "read-only" set in the properties of the entry, it also opens the document in read-only but without setting the flag.

Now my question is, why is it that when I have the document added normally and open it with "view" it sets a write-protect flag on the file and also doesn't set that back after opening the file unless I open it as a session where it does set that back.
Is this potentially a bug?
Since it seems like there's no need to set a write-protect flag on the file itself in order to open it in read-only when it seemingly is able to open a file in read-only mode without setting the flag.

It is definitely a bit annoying, I'd really appreciate it, if it would be possible to change the behaviour in a future update so it doesn't set read-only on the file or at least give an explanation on why it was made to behave that way.
