Hyper-V host list empty

avatar

Hello,

searched the forum but found nothing obviously related.
If I try to refresh the host list of my hyper-v Server, there is no server listed. Searching the event log on the hyper-v server, I see, that the rdm trys to authenticate against the server with my logged on credentials of my workstation and not with the one which I wrote down in the software. Tried with always ask for credetnials under connection, tried with session credentials under Tools, but nothing changed. There is no popup window which asks me for the credentials to use. Is there anything known about?
WMI is working, as I can connect with Hyper V Manager.

Achim

Hi,
Could you specify the credentials directly in Tools to see if this make a difference? RDM use WMI to connect to hyper-v

Hi,

thanks for quick response. Thought I've tested it. Now there comes the popup Window but in the eventlog the specified User is not seen, only a failed login with my user account from the workstation.

Have you tried to create an Hyper-V connection directly from the Virtualization category?

Tried this already same result. But to be sure, created new connection, same result. Workstation user is sent to hyper-v server and not specified User data.

Hum, this is strange. Could you try to do a Run As Administrator of RDM?

Any top Configuration I miss, for integrated authentication?

Could you export me one of your configuration without the password?

Hi,
I have verified the configuration and you have the prompt for credentials checked. Does it work if you uncheck that enter the username and password?

Hi,

no ther's no change in behaviour. :( Is this a local problem, or can you reproduce it?
My workstation is in another subdomain as the hyper-v is.

Workstation domain: workstation.domain1.net
Hyper-V domain: hyperv.domain1.net

there is no trust relationship between the domain controllers.

Could you try to include the domain in the username:

domain\username

I am having this same issue

I see in the security log of the Hyper-V host two success followed by two failures. When I look at the failures, its referencing my laptop login (which is not at all related to this server) but I have checked both pages in the Hyper-V console config in RDM to find that its not being referenced. I have used both the credential dropdown and manually entering them, and it persists.

Any ideas, David? I have put setting this off for a few months because I run into this issue every time. Firewall is not turned on for Hyper-V and I am using the Admin account.

Here is the failure... But this is my laptop... Why would RDM pass this info to the Hyper-V server if I am declaring my credentials in the tabs?

Here is a success that comes just before the failures...

We use WMI to get the information. Have you specified your credentials in the Tools tab page?

Yes - Tried both "using repository" (which is how I manage all passwords in the program) and entering them directly right there.

Hi,
I have done some quick search and I think that I could have a workaround to fix the problem. I will have the time to implement it this week but I will do my best to give you a test version next week.

Thanks, David!

Any update on this? Thanks :)

Still on my todo list. I hope to do it next week.

Could you try the version 9.0.7.0 please?

David Hervieux

That fixed it, yes. Thank You..

I noticed when I updated to the .5 build it dumped a lot of my connections, but I will rebuild them... Not a big deal... I did notice on the .7 update that when I go to the "tools" tab to enter the credentials for Hyper-V as required, the credential repository dropdown does not have all my credentials in it now... But it does on the main screen...

Hi,
Do you have an idea of those missing? Is it a specific type? What data source type do you use? Do they appear if you use the ...?

David Hervieux

Hi David -

I lost folders that contained "documents" that were linked to local (dropbox) files. Was not a big deal since I had a desktop that was not updated and just exported from there...

Its a local data source, I sent an email in asking about online data source but awaiting a response.

Hope this helps.

And about the credentials, what type of credentials are missing?

David Hervieux

I dont see a pattern... I just can tell you there are creds missing (they are all the same "type"). I had to manually enter them versus using the repo... I would be happy to do a screen sharing session with you as its still like that.

avatar

Could you send me a print screen of both screens?

dhervieux at devolutions.net

Use the ... to do the print screen

Yes. It will be tomorrow morning since its on my work computer.
