SSH key generator's "Save as entry" should not expose private key

At the moment this is the normal behavior. It also acts this way when creating a new entry and importing a key.

Since we already have buttons to copy and view the private key (which you can see once the entry is saved and you edit it), I think it makes sense to make this change, as I don't see much value in having it visible while creating the entry.

I've moved your thread to the feature request forum, and opened an internal ticket for us to address this.

We’ve updated the flow so the private key is no longer shown when creating the SSH key entry. You’ll see the usual placeholder, with View and Copy available (same as when editing).
This change will be available in version 2025.3.15.

Thank you for remembering and updating this thread. I tested it and unfortunately it's not fully fixed. The most straightforward way of adding new SSH key still reveals private key to whoever happens to watch over the shoulder. Please see the attached screencast for the reproduction. I use RDM 2025.3.16.

Thank you for reporting this and for your patience!

You're absolutely right, the private key was still being exposed when using it in that flow. I've now fixed this case as well.

The private key will now be hidden with the usual placeholder text, and you can use the View and Copy buttons if you need to access it.

This fix should be available in version 2025.3.18.
