Configuration files should be encrypted using an application password

Can someone please explain what the 'application password' is here referred to as per below Action items:

Configuration files should be encrypted using an application password

The application password should be used to encrypt sensitive information in the Remote Desktop Manager configuration files. In Options → Security → Application Security (local), choose “use application password” and check “Encrypt local files using the application password.”
