Hello everyone,
Since last week, we've been using the temporary access feature to share passwords with our colleagues for a specific period. During this time, we've encountered a few issues and have the following feature requests:

  • Missing Notification for Requests: There's no notification when a request is made.
  • Macros Not Resolved in Requests: Macros like $COMPUTER_NAME$ (admin) aren't resolved in the request, making it unclear which password is being requested.
  • Access to Requests Only via Dashboard: Accessing requests is only possible through the dashboard, which can take 30-60 seconds to open and causes the PC to lag. It would be beneficial to have a hotkey to switch to the access window and to have it open as a standalone window.
  • API Interface or Email Notification: An API interface or email notification would be helpful to capture these requests and push the password request to Teams.

Overall, the performance is lacking. We're using an SQL Server 2017 with over 21,000 entries. Are there any optimization possibilities?

Hello,

For the following points:

  • Missing Notification for Requests
  • API Interface or Email Notification

I believe this should already be possible if you're on Devolutions Server or Devolutions Hub. If you're on SQL Server, though, it's not possible and we don't have plans to add this at the moment.
For the API interface (webhook) specifically, it's available on Hub, and for DVLS it's planned in the future.

For these points:

  • Variables Not Resolved in Requests
  • Access to Requests Only via Dashboard

I believe it should be possible to address these. For the variables I was sure we already did this, but maybe it slipped under our radar. We will open a ticket for these.

Hello,

Thank you for your detailed response and for addressing the points I raised. I appreciate the information provided regarding the current capabilities and future plans for Devolutions Server and Devolutions Hub.
Considering the benefits and features available in Devolutions Server, we are contemplating migrating from our current SQL Server setup to Devolutions Server. We have already reviewed the migration documentation available at https://docs.devolutions.net/server/kb/how-to-articles/migrate-sql/ , which provides clear and comprehensive guidance on the process.

Best regards,

Patrick

Hello,

Variable resolving fixes will be included in version 2025.2.27.0. A new menu will also be available in version 2025.3.7.0 to open the access request window:
