Creating SSH Terminal For Cisco Switch and Get Error

Hello,

I am new to this product and loving it so far. I am having issues connecting to my switches through SSH. I am not sure how to fix this. With MRemoteNG it just worked but I want to keep this product.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out regarding this matter, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the product!

Could you please let me know which version of RDM you’re currently using? Some recent versions have had issues related to SSH. If you’re not already on the latest version (2025.2.20.0), I highly recommend updating.

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up.

Please try adding supported algorithms in RDM by navigating to:
File > Settings > Entry Types > Sessions > Terminal > Algorithm Support.
From there, you can add the specific algorithms you need, or enable all of them for testing purposes. (4 tabs as well)

I've encountered a similar issue in the past where certain devices relied on algorithms that were disabled in RDM.

Let me know if this helps.

Best regards,

I already turned them on when I did my own troubleshooting. Its is odd. I run putty and type in the ip address. It works right away. I don't get it.

** Update **

I can remote on to other switches now. I seems to be just that on switch with the issue. Not sure why.

Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up.

It appears that you're not the only one experiencing this issue. If you don’t mind, could you please provide the full identification details of the switch so we can investigate further on our end?

Best regards,

Jacob Lafrenière
