No OTP options in RDM when using "Linked (Vault)" credentials
1 vote
I have a credential entry with OTP set up - right-clicking the credential entry shows the options to copy one-time password
however - if this entry is linked (on a website/embedded entry) - right-clicking the website entry only shows "Copy username" and "Copy password" - the OTP options are missing
(Running RDM 2024.3.31.0)

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Devolutions Support.
Based on my testing with both previous and recent versions, I believe this is not a bug but rather a missing feature, as the behavior is consistent across versions.
I will go ahead and move this topic to the feature request section, as I believe that would be the more appropriate place for it.
Best regards,
Jacob Lafrenière
Hello,
I have implemented this, and it will be in the next major release (2025.3). This version is planned for this fall.

Hi,
Don't you need to configure on the entry where the linking to the credential made, the OTP Source to "Current sessions credentials"?
In my case it was the autocompletion of the OTP who didn't worked and bothered me, we found out that on the Website entry, not only the credentials are to be linked, but the OTP linking has to be precised as well.
Configured like this, the Copy One-time-password Right clic menu on the Website entry is shown and it copies the OTP of the Entry linked in the general.
I hope it helps you
Special Thanks to Maxim R. from the support team !

hi @ascanius,
you are referring to web credentials (probably created using workspace extension within your browser) - my case was within RDM ("standard" username/password credential with OTP configured). The credential entry in RDM does not have this option you are referring to.

Hi Günther,
(it's ascanius, just made myself a personal account)
No, I'm not talking about web credentials in particular.
Let's take your example, first printscreen, You have in your user Vault a "Devolution Forum" credential Entry, in this you have your Username, Password, OTP configured, right?
Then you have in your other Vault your "Devolution Forum" Web entry (Second Printscreen)
in the Property of this Entry you have something like this configured, right?
If all right, then this first "linking" under the General/Credentials only link the Username and the Password.
If you wand to get the Right click menu entry "copy one-time-password" you need to link the OTP source as well. It can point to another entry then the one selected under the general, but as well inherit the linked entry by selecting "current session credentials".
The right click on the Web entry shown above, without OTP Configured look like this:
Add this
Same Entry, right clic menu:
I hope it helps

oh wow. thanks alot @guillaumewicky!
after adding the link to the OTP setting in my session entry I now have the OTP in the context menu.
@David Hervieux so the feature request changed (maybe you implemented it that way?): if I link a credential entry with OTP configured to a session entry it should also add a link to the credential entry for the OTP setting of the session entry.

Exactly. This will be available in the overview.
