Question about global hotkeys

Hi,

I'm trying to assign a global hotkey to the filter box. So far I have tried Ctrl+Alt+F12 and Shift+Alt+7 but neither has worked. I have "Global hotkey" selected in the first drop down in the Keyboard Settings page rather than "Default".

I see 3 scenarios for the hotkey:

1. The RDM program is open but not active because I am working on another program on my local machine.
2. The RDM window is active and my input has not been grabbed by a RDP session such as when my cursor is in the Navigation pane.
3. The RDM window is active and my input has been grabbed by the RDP session I am working with.

From what I can tell the hotkey works only in situation 2. Should it work in scenario 1 and 3? Scenario 1 would be really really nice to have and scenario 3 would be great as well but not quite as important as scenario 1.
