8.3.1.0 : Connections close, but stays open in RDM

Greetings:

I'm a new user of RDM and I'm really enjoying the product. For the most part, the program is very good. However, I have two problems that drive me crazy.

The first problem is when a session closes. I only work with RDP sessions (at this time), but I have hundreds of them, and it's not uncommon for me to have 50+ sessions open to various servers across the country. Sometimes, when logging off a server, the connection isn't terminated in the program. Since the program thinks I am still connected, I can't reconnect to the server. In order to correct this, I have to close the program and re-open it. Unfortunately, this means I have to re-connect to all of my other sessions as well.

The second problem is in regards to the program changing focus when you disconnect from a session. To illustrate, imagine you have 10 sessions of RDP open (Sever1 - Server10). You opened Server1, then Server2, all the way to Server10. On Server10, you initiate a log off from the windows start menu and immediately move to Server 5 to do some work. When the connection is fully closed from Server10, focus is changed. It appears to occur when the tree of servers refreshes? but that may be coincidence. Either way, your work changes from Server5 to -- some other server. This can be very dangerous if you aren't paying close attention.

Hi Joe,
For the first issue, this is strange. Do you open your RDP in embedded mode? What happen if you use the Close menu?

For the other issue, you can go in the application option File->Options

Uncheck in the the tab General (UI options / Tree view)

Auto focus tab on item select

David:

In regards to the first issue, where connections are closed but remain open in RDM:
I do use RDP in embedded mode. When it happens, it usually leaves a tab open and I cannot close it. I will try to use the close button today to see if it makes a difference, however, the following did not work to close the tab:
1. Right clicking the server in the tree and choosing Close or Disconnect
2. Clicking the x in the tab to close the tab.

I will report back after the next time it happens.

Thanks!
