Recently I had to add a new activeX to my windows XP box for access to a clients machine. Unfortunately I can not disable this activeX as I still have to have access to their machine. That being said here is what I am discovering. Ever since I installed the activeX the /console or -admin switch no longer works within the remote desktop manager. Everyone of the client machines that I have setup is connecting as a non-console session only. The other unfortunate part is that I can not remember the name of the activeX to list it here. I have updated WinXP to service pack 3 but that has not helped. Any idea as to what I can do to make the console/admin switch work again? Oh yes it does work outside of the remote desktop manager.
Hi,
If you open your connection in RDM External mode, does it works ? What version of RDM do you use ?
David Hervieux
Not sure how to run it in External mode but I do have the most recent version. 5.7.2.2 with .Net v2.0.50727.
Hi,
See the printscreen for the external connection.
Let me know

Unfortunately that is what it is running in so I can still only get in with a non-console session.
Hi,
Can you try to run mstsc.exe in command line with /admin to see if it works ? Because in External mode, this is exactly what RDM does.
David Hervieux
I can run it from rdp using the -admin switch and connect that way without a problem.
Can you send me a printscreen of your session configuration (you can remove the server name) at support@devolutions.net

Did you get this issue resolved?

Hi,
Yes it was, if I remember correctly the problem was with an advanced option in RDM: Force RDP 6
