Credentials dialog - 8.2.14.0

How do you disable this option as I now see this pop-up window on 8.2.14 as it shows my original login name and when I change it to Admin it still tries to log me in under my own login name and then procduces an error since the password entered is for the admin account and not my own. If not then have it see the change in username and send that information to through the session and allow for a successful conection under a different login name.

I was able to start the connection again and then click cancel to get to the MS login session and make the change there to proceed however it would be nice to be able to change it at the dialog box as well.

Hi,
This is a bug and it will be fixed in the next beta (later tonight)

ok thanks as I also discovered that the reconnect feature will not allow for a login with another credential. Today I was signed into a sever as myself and I needed to reconnect as admin and then back as myself to maintain the time spent on the connection and I was not able to do so as it would reconnect as me only.

It's also in 8.2.15.0, will check older version and go to that until it's fixed.

8.2.12.0 seems to be free of that bug.

avatar

Do you mean the reconnect still has the bug?

Yes the reconnect bug is in 8.2.15.0 as well.

Sorry today was an holiday in Canada. Is it only the reconnect? I'm asking this because the login work fine for me

you are able to connect with one set of credentials and if you choose to reconnect then you would be able to use a second set of credentials? RDM would not do that for me as it would keep the first set of credentials in use.

btw hope you enjoyed the holiday!

Hi,
This will be in the next beta, probably tomorrow.

Ok thanks David!

David, I tried 8.2.16.0 and I was able to double-click a connection and then change the username and password and have the new credentials passed to the remote computer/server w/o an issue. The second issue is still there as when I try to do the reconnect it does not allow me to use another set of credentials as it did up to 8.2.12.0. Is the credential dialog box listed in the RemoteDesktopManager.cfg so that I could disable that option?

Oh I understand what you mean now. I thought that it was not using the previously entered credentials but what you want is being prompted again.

I think that it will be more convenient to add an option for that because something you just want to reconnect and keep the current credentials. What do you think?

David, your response made me check again (8.2.16.0) and this is what I discovered. If you use the credential dialog box a with a set of credentials “test user” the choosing a reconnect will continue to use the “test user” credentials which many users will desire and it will not display again the credentials dialog box to allow a user to use perhaps another set of credentials like “Administrator”.

Now if you initially cancel the credential dialog box then the connection would continue and you would be at the server or workstation and you would add in your username or password and then if a reconnect is needed then it can be done and the credential dialog box would not appear and you would be back at the server or workstation to allow adding a second set of credentials.

In the reconnect scenario for me would be helpful since my named user account does not have access to a user personal home folder per our company internal guidelines however the Administrator account does so when I am on a server working with my named user account and have a need to go in as admin then the reconnect comes in handy. I sign back and do what I need to do as admin and then reconnect again as my own named account all the while preserving the overall connection and active times for reporting so yes if an option could be placed to either turn on or off the credential dialog box that would be great if not then I would just cancel the credential dialog box and use the windows login screen at the server or workstation.
I hope the above makes sense and if not then let me know. - Felix
