Being able to change the order of custom fields in the UI

We have a situation where we need to change the order of custom fields in an RDM entry, we have about 900 entries of the same type and the current situation is that we need to delete all the fields to reorder them.

is it possible to have either a functionality or a workaround ?

thank you for your time

Hello David,

Thank you for reaching out to the Devolutions support team.

This could probably be done with a custom PowerShell script.

Could you explain what the expected behaviour is for your 900 entries?
How many custom fields do you need to switch?
How many custom fields are configured under your entry properties?

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for following up !

We have around 10 custom fields configured on our entries. We have to move a field in the 8th position to the 2nd position, to achieve that we would have to delete and recreate the fields and their content.

PowerShell for that can't be done because too many entries and various content in the fields.

Also my understanding was that PowerShell script on the devolution can be done only if I host the server / database which is not the case at the moment for us.

Make sense ?

We could also have a call so I can demonstrate what we're trying to achieve for you to have a better understand of our use case.

Thank you so much for your time on this matter :-) Greatly appreciated.

Regards,
David

Hello David,

From my point of view, it should be possible.

The permission you have with the PowerShell script is the same one you have in RDM.
What could be confusing is the DVLS and RDM components that need other prerequisites than just having RDM installed.

I have sent you an email to schedule a session to have a look.

Hello David,

The development team has reviewed your case and decided to implement a method for revealing sensitive information in the entry dashboard.

They will follow up once this feature is in place.
