Dear Devolutions Team,
I would like to propose a feature enhancement for Remote Desktop Manager (RDM) that could significantly improve the experience for users who frequently work with command-line interfaces over SSH.
Feature Request: Optional Syntax Highlighting in SSH Terminal for Common Network CLIs
It would be highly beneficial to have the option to enable syntax highlighting for well-known command-line syntaxes used in networking environments — for example, Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, Fortinet, etc.
I understand that RDM currently displays raw terminal output without any syntax coloring. Tools like MobaXterm, while limited, offer some level of syntax highlighting or coloring even in SSH sessions, which greatly improves readability. Extending RDM’s terminal to include similar functionality — or even the ability to define custom syntax patterns — would be a powerful enhancement.
My main interest is Cisco CLI, but ideally this feature could support a range of syntaxes selectable by the user, either built-in or via importable profiles.

Hello,

We already have a feature for syntax highlighting: https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/kb/knowledge-base/syntax-highlighting/
This can enable you to make your own highlights depending on your needs. We don't have the necessary expertise internally to support specific highlights for these technologies, but you can import and export these syntax highlighting configurations and make the ones you need.

We had a user in this thread that shared their syntax highlighting configurations for Cisco, maybe it can help you achieve what you need.

I'm not ruling out eventually having specific configurations for these technologies built into RDM, but at the moment it's not something we're looking to add.

I managed to setup the syntax highlighting for IOS with the XML the other user provided.
Thanks for your help!
