Enterprise Edition - Remote Office

Enterprise Edition - Remote Office

avatar

David,

We want to run RDM Enterprise Edition at our main office (this is where all the other three people who need RDM are), but I'm remote in another state. We do have a VPN.

Will I be able to share the SLQ connection over the VPN or will it be too slow this way?

Thanks!
ct

Hi,
I never tried, if your connection does not contains too much data (custom image by example), it should work. The data is very small.

Give it a try and let me know, you could be surprised.

I use this same type of setup from my home machine and it works great. I have about 350 sessions in my SQL database and it take about 3-5 seconds to load them over our 10mbit connection. As long as your machine can hit the SQL server over the vpn you should be fine.

Thank you very much for this info.

alternatively, you can opt to not use the VPN and just forward the appropriate port to the SQL server and get to it from the outside

not as secure, mind you...
