Remote Desktop Manager with Azure Bastion Premium

Remote Desktop Manager with Azure Bastion Premium

avatar

I am currently in the process of setting up Azure Bastion but am encountering issues when attempting to connect to a virtual machine.
According to the documentation, the Basic tier is not supported, and only the Standard tier enables "Native client support." However, it appears that the Premium tier may also not be supported at this time. When attempting a connection, I receive the following message in the application log:

One or more errors occurred. (Exception of type 'Devolutions.Az.Bastion.BastionNotSupportedException' was thrown.) (System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. (Exception of type 'Devolutions.Az.Bastion.BastionNotSupportedException' was thrown.)
---> Devolutions.Az.Bastion.BastionNotSupportedException: Exception of type 'Devolutions.Az.Bastion.BastionNotSupportedException' was thrown.

at Devolutions.Az.Bastion.Client.GetRdpFile(Host bastionHost, VirtualMachine virtualMachine, CancellationToken cancellationToken)
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.ThrowIfExceptional(Boolean includeTaskCanceledExceptions)
at System.Threading.Tasks.Task`1.GetResultCore(Boolean waitCompletionNotification)
at Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Business.VPNOpeners.VPNAzureBastionOpener.<>c__DisplayClass6_0.<DoOpen>b__0())

Those are my settings within Azure:

Could you please confirm whether the Premium tier is currently unsupported and if this requires an update within Remote Desktop Manager?
For reference, I am using version 2025.1.29.0 (64-bit).

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello

Thanks for reporting this and I'm sorry about the inconvenience.

Honestly this is just an oversight on our side. It's an easy fix but it does require me to make some changes. I'll post back here once that's done, it should be pretty fast.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience

Kind regards

It seems like Remote Desktop Manager might not support the Premium Azure Bastion tier fully. Ensure you're using the Standard tier for compatibility, update RDM to the latest version, and verify your Azure Bastion setup. Contact support if issues persist. I’ve always struggled with time management, especially during exam season. That’s why I use Academized. I placed my most recent order through https://academized.com/ and asked them to write my essay on environmental studies. It was perfectly structured, with up-to-date sources and a clear argument. This paper writing service never lets me down!

You're on the right path! Upgrading should solve the issue.

Hi Denis

Just checking in with you that the fix is available, so if you are on the latest version of RDM Windows you should be able to use the premium Bastion SKU.

Let me know if you have any issues or questions after updating.

Best regards,
