Alternate Credentials

avatar

Hi,

Looking to make use of the alternate creds for an option for us to be able to log into a server with local account.
So session is setup to use our domain account or then if needed we can flick to the local account.

However, I am running into a issue with it on RDP session.

Working fine launching the RDP session with my domain account.
My account pulls through as "mydomain\myusername".

I then launch session with the local account and it fails to sign in when it pulls the creds.

The creds are saved in the following format .\localaccountexample.

I have tried messing about with the following settings and I can only ever get one of the two accounts to login.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out on this matter.

I will set up a similar configuration on my end and provide you with further guidance on Monday, as I haven’t had much experience with these settings yet.

Best regards,

Hi Iain,

What happens if you store the credential as ".\localaccountexample" (using backslash, not forward slash)? This is the format Windows takes to determine local accounts.

It may be a silly suggestion, but out of curiosity... :-)

Sorry just a typo on the forum, .\ is how the creds are saved.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up.

Based on my testing, if you use the "Username and Password" credential type, you can leave the domain field empty. Remote Desktop Manager will automatically interpret the .\ as the local domain.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Best regards,
