Using the Dell iDRAC connection profile, I'm unable to connect to the iDRAC remote console. The iDRAC is on default settings (port 5900), and Remote Desktop Manager even detects a certificate, but the connection then fails for unknown reasons ("unable to connect to host xyz"). The server entry is configured to use port default and console type default.
I'm pretty sure that this has worked for me in the past, the things that changed are iDRAC firmware and new release of Remote Desktop Manager.
Hello andreashinterleitner,
Thank you for reaching out regarding this matter.
Could you please provide the version of your iDRAC and its firmware? For reference, I am currently working with iDRAC9 V7.
I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Jacob Lafrenière
Hello
Further to what my colleague wrote, can you share your RDM version? I'm troubleshooting a similar report from an internal team this morning.
Thanks and kind regards,

Hello again
Unfortunately, I can confirm there is a regression here and I apologize for that. RDM 2024.3.20 tightened up security on handling of server certificates, and that introduced a problem with DRAC connectivity.
First, I've already fixed this for the next release (2024.3.21) so once that version is available the problem will go away. I've linked this forum thread to the ticket so you should be notified once that's available.
For now, there are two workarounds to unblock you:
Option 2 might actually be preferable anyway, since your connection will be made slightly faster.
Once again I apologize for the trouble. Please let me know if you have some questions or if something isn't clear.
Kind regards,
Richard Markievicz
After the last update of Remote Deskop Manager, all iDRAC virtual console sessions work again.
Hello,
Thank you for confirming!
Please feel free to reach out if you need anything else.
