Hello,
the log- viewer from our Sophos Firewalls is not shown with any embedded browser. In an external browser, a new window is opend to show the log-viewer. In the embedded browser, a new empty tab is opened with "about:blank" in the address bar and that's it. Would be great if you could fix this, since it is very annoying to have to re-open the firewalls in an external browser every time you need to check a log, which happens very often.
Hello,
This behaviour is related to the Microsoft WebView 2 component - you can find the bug report here: https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/WebView2Feedback/issues/4424
That being said, it's not direct a RDM issue, but there is a workaround available: https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/kb/rdm-windows/troubleshooting-articles/links-not-loading-embedded-mode/

In previous versions of RDM it worked if you just clicked the link again while the empty tab was still open. In that case, the log-viewer was loaded in the previously emtpy tab. Now, with the latest RDM version, clicking the link again just opens another empty tab.
Hello,
This is correct, please note the snippet at the end of the mentioned KB:

Well, if using an external browser was a viable solution for us, we would have done it that way long ago. Is it perhaps possible to just open the log viewer in a new window?
Edit:
Opening the firewalls externally in general would be really annoying, but opening just the log viewer in a new window would be ok. Not great, but ok. Even mRemote can do this, so it should be possible, right?
I have the same problem with Sophos firewalls, but also with other firewall vendors that I manage through RDM. This issue is a massive bummer and I would appreciate, if there were another solution then openig the firewalls externally. One of the main reasons to use RDM is to have it all in one space.
Additionally, with one of the current updates of RDM, a newer version of Chrome is being used. Previously, only Sophos was problematic in terms of opening a new log window. Now this also does not work for other firewall vendors, like Securepoint.
Hello,
We have a fix for this that is coming in our next minor update (2024.3.19.0), I hope it will solve all of these issues regardless of the website this happens on. With this fix, in our environment, we aren't able to reproduce the issue anymore.
We are hoping to release this version in 1-2 weeks, depending on how QA testing goes.

That's good to know, since this problem is extremely annoying for us, thanks!
After the installation of the current v2024.3.19.0 I was able to open the log tabs on different types of firewalls without any problems. Thank you for resolving the issue!
Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad to hear it now works for you!
