How to connect to an existing session from Android to a Ubuntu Laptop

Dear guru,

I'm a new user using the RDM android version and I can connect to my personal single user Ubuntu laptop. However I'm having two issues:

1) I would like to connect to an existing session, so that to check the program running result, but RDM seems to ask to force kill the existing session so as to remote in, which loses the whole point of using RDM..

2) even I chose to kill the running session and started my program via RDM, each time I close the RDM app from my cellphone and reopen it, I couldn't reconnect to the same session, so bang goes the idea of using a remote desktop manager

I've been searching around the forum but couldn't find a proper solution. So I guess reaching out here could be the best way.

Please help shed some light on if this feature is supported at all.

(I used to use Windows remote desktop a lot and that allows me to reconnect to the existing account running in the office so that I can continue my unfinished work at home. This is windows -> windows. I'm surprised this isn't the default behavior for your RDM.. maybe there is some config in my Ubuntu that needs some tweak?)

Hello

The behaviour you describe (assuming you're using the RDP session and not, for example, VNC) is defined by the server.

Are you using the default "sharing" setup on Ubuntu? What's your Ubuntu version?

The RDP backend is provided by the Gnome Remote Desktop project on that OS. I know that they were working on implementing the behaviour you describe. But sadly, it's not something we can control from the client side.

It's possible this might be changed by upgrading your server or, as you say, changing a configuration; or otherwise switch to a different remote protocol like VNC.

Please, let me know if something isn't' clear or you have other questions

Kind regards,

Richard Markievicz
