I upgraded to Version V2024.2.12.0. Cloud backup does not work. There is a warning saying Cloud backup(DEPRECATED.)
Note: My Devolutions account is active.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter!
Since the latest version of RDM, the Cloud Backup option has been deprecated and is no longer usable. We suggest using local backup with a sync to Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.
If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know.
Best regards,
Maxim Robert
Hello,
This is a very bad situation. Why was it removed?
Can't we at least transfer the local backup to the cloud without using it?
Also, how long can we use cloud backup in older versions?
Thank You.
Hello,
We have made the decision to deprecate the RDM Cloud Backup feature as it relies on outdated infrastructure and technology that we no longer support. Instead, we recommend using Hub Personal, which includes features like Deleted Entries and Entry History for a more robust experience.
Please note that the existing infrastructure will remain active until early next year, at which point it will be permanently shut down.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hello,
We have created this knowledge base article to outline the alternatives available for the deprecated Cloud Backup feature.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am sure others will benefit from your contribution.

Thank you, how can I transfer Rdm extension to Hub?
Isn't there a way to transfer Cloud Personnel Hub directly?
There are too many attempts.
Thank you again.
Hello,
Thank you for your response!
Are you looking to transfer your backup list from the cloud to a local backup location? Thank you for letting us know.
If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know.
Best regards,
Maxim Robert
no,
i want to transfer it from devolutions cloud to personnel hub.
thank you.
Hello,
Thank you for your response!
To transfer your entries from your cloud backup to Hub Personal, I suggest restoring them in RDM and then exporting them from RDM if this is not already done. Then, in RDM, connect to your Hub Personal Data Source under File > Data Source, and after, import your entries in RDM and connect them to your Hub Personal.
Here's a helpful topic regarding Export and Import.

Please let us know if you encounter any issues. If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know.

Hi,
I read the release notes and that was why i didn't upgrade to v.3
At first i thought also why but the explanation and the alternative is so much better and clearer now.
Also kudos to the whole support team, and you do not see often the CEO of the company to answer in a forum and explain something to a concerned user.

Thank you,

THANK YOU...
What is the difference between cloud backup and hub personal backup? They are both in the cloud so it is a bit confusing on the difference.
I honestly thought cloud backup and hub personal backup was the same thing.

yes they are both in the cloud. I think the difference is that you need to create a new data source that will in on the personal hub. So the actually database is in the cloud.
Before you had the database local and the backup in cloud.

Hello,
Thank you for your responses on this thread!
The Cloud backup and Hub Personal are two different things. The cloud backup feature provides a secure online storage solution for backing up your Devolutions Online Drive, SQLite, and XML data sources. It automatically saves sessions whenever changes are made in RDM. Note that the current infrastructure will remain active until early 2025, at which point it will be shut down permanently.
On the other hand, Hub Personal is a secure and free password manager designed for individuals who want to store personal passwords in a private vault that is accessible only to them. Additionally, you can create and access your own Devolutions Hub Personal directly from your Devolutions account, where all the information is stored in the cloud with us.
If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know.
Best regards,
Maxim Robert
So can you not back up your database from RDM to personal hub? Is personal hub more of a password manager?
Hello Kvtobola,
Thank you for your response!
Indeed, Devolutions Hub Personal is more of a Password Manager, but not only that. It also includes features like deleting entries, the possibility to connect it to the Workspace Plugin, Password Template, and Entry Template, and you have an entry history within Hub Personal. Also, you can connect your Hub Personal to RDM to store the information in the cloud. You can always use a local backup that syncs to Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive if needed, but we highly suggest using Hub Personal connected to RDM.
If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know.

Gotcha. I was messing with it yesterday and the personal hub is more of a Remote Desktop Manager web interface than a traditional "backup" vault.
i will say I am not a fan of it. I liked the old backup method because I have multiple data sources for my multiple clients.
Unless the personal hub I can have multiple data sources (multiple SQLite databases) but I don't think so.
I don't like the idea of having to have all my clients in one database.
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your perspective on transitioning from the previous cloud backup method to Hub Personal. I understand how important your workflow is for efficiently managing multiple data sources for different clients.
While Hub Personal offers a secure and centralized approach to password management, it may not entirely replicate the experience of maintaining separate databases for each client. However, you can still manage multiple data sources in Remote Desktop Manager by syncing local backups with cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have specific requirements or need additional support. We're here to help you find the best solution for your needs.
