Import inventory without installed / active RDM

Hi,

we have new hosts getting created automatically by varying methods, not always initiated by a user with an installed RDM. Is it possible, to import hosts into the database without a running RDM? I have seen the powershell scripts, but they seem to always rely on a local connection to the running RDM. I would need some kind of module that will connect directly to the database - is that possible?
If not, would it be possible to modify the database directly to import hosts and if so are there some information on the database schema?

Could you please specify the version of RDM you are currently using?
What type of data source are you using?

I'm also wondering if you could provide us with some additional details on what you're looking to achieve, such as what type of sessions you're looking to import? From my understanding, the PowerShell Module does require RDM to be installed with an existing connection to the data source but it would not need to be running for the script to work, would that be suitable in your case?

As for modifying the database directly, I do not believe that would be possible.

I'm using 2024.3.0.5 with MSSQL as datasource.

Thanks yes, it looks suitable to use like that with a service account, I misunderstood the need to run the application
