Progress Bar when doing something

Good morning.

What are the chances of getting some sort of progress bar, such as when doing any kind of Sync or Load from System Inventory where the little bar moves on the bottom right of the RDM program window?

My team and I are constantly doing stuff where RDM gives no indication of the progress, such as Exporting Vaults, etc., and we don't know if the program has froze, if it's still working, etc.

Hello Chuck,

Could you describe exactly which features don't seem to have a progress bar? Screenshots and step by step to reach the feature would help to make sure we look in the right place.

The most likely explanation is that we forgot to have it in certain places, though it's also possible there are some bugs that prevent the progress bar from showing.
As a note, sometimes we're unable to show the progress bar as a window, and it will instead show in the status bar at the bottom of RDM, regardless of the user configuration.

Additionally, we already have a ticket to improve the progress bar for the synchronizers, but the bar itself should already exist (I performed a test with a Bitwarden synchronizer, and the status bar in the bottom right shows properly).

You know I thought about that over the weekend that I should have posted at least what I was doing with no progress bar.

Now I'm starting at the screen not remembering exactly what the heck I was doing that triggered my post.

I will post here next time I come across something within RDM that doesn't have the progress bar.

Good morning, Hubert.

I came across one place this morning where there is absolutely no progress bar. "File > My Account Data > User Specific Settings List"


Highlighted approx. 1,100 entries and performed delete. Only way I know it's still working was to keep refreshing an execution I had going in SSMS.

Hello Chuck,

We'll add a progress dialog when doing a delete as well as doing an import (as the import can take quite a lot of time as well if importing hundreds of settings). This should be available starting with version 2024.3.8.0.

We have this issue with switching between vaults. Our vaults are quite large, several thousand entries in each, and it can take anywhere from 4 to 7 seconds to switch from vault to vault. There is currently no progress bar indication and these switches appear to run in the main UI thread, causing the entire application to freeze.
