Feature improvement request - Insufficient information in the Syslog
0 vote
As we have several administrators of RDM, we would like to have additional information in the syslog.
When someone edits an entry, the log is generated, but it does not specify, what information/field was changed.
When we export entire vault (File -> Export -> Export vault (.rdm) ), there is no log generated.
Could this information be added to the syslog?
Hello,
We will investigate this request with our development team and get back to you.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
HI Jeff.
Any update from the development team?
Hello,
When we export a vault from RDM, the log entry is visible in Reports - Administration Logs. With a DVLS data source, you can send these administration logs to syslog using the Notifications feature.
The edited properties are still in the analysis stage. No information is available if this could be implemented or when it will.
Thank you for being so patient.
Best regards,
Érica Poirier
Hello,
Just to add some information, it's not a simple change in our code base to log what specifically was changed when editing an entry. We'll keep this in mind as a future improvement but it's complex.
For now, if you need to compare what data was changed, you can do so manually through the "entry history" feature. You can right click your entry > View > Entry history. From there, you can select two histories and press the "compare" button. It will show the difference between the data of the two versions of the entry.
You can find more information about this feature here: https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/commands/context-menu/entry-history/
