Hello,
My organization requires to use Sonicwall SSL VPN, RDP is launched when clicking on host showing after logged into Sonicwall webpage (bookmark), and looks like Sonicwall SMA Connect Agent trigger app "mstsc", and i see the connection initiate via local address 127.0.0.1:3344 or 127.0.0.1:3366
Any idea how to configure RDM to be able to connect to our internal hosts?
Thank you.
Hello,
I believe I understand what you want to do. However, if I am mistaken, please let me know.
You can create a VPN entry and configure your RDP entry to connect through it. Please follow these steps:
1. Click on "New Entry."
2. In the VPN/Tunnel/Gateway section, select "SonicWall VPN."
3. Set up the entry.
4. Create an RDP entry, and in the VPN/Tunnel/Gateway section:
a. In the "Connect" dropdown menu, select "Always Connect."
b. In the "Type" dropdown menu, select "VPN Link."
5. Go to the "Settings" tab, and in both the Windows and Mac dropdown menus, select your new VPN entry.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
Thanks Carl for the detail.
Unfortunately, i can't make it works as your instruction, cause i don't have SonicWall VPN app.
Currently, i use browser and access to SSL VPN page, after logged in, i can RDP by clicking on the host IP address which is showing as link, then SonicWall Connect agent will launch "mstsc" app to rdp to the host.
Hello,
Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately, if you are unable to access the SonicWall VPN app, I don’t think RDM can launch the connection, since we usually push a command through CMD to open the connection on the back end.
I guess you could use a website entry? It is very difficult for me to pinpoint a solution for you without seeing your solutions in action. Do you think it is possible to send us a video of how you use your VPN?
I have sent a link to safely send us a video through email.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
Hi Carl,
I sent you the video, hopefully it will help to get a proper way to connect using RDM :)
Thanks a lot.
Hello
Thank you for sharing the video with us. Unfortunately, RDM does not support this method of using SonicWall VPN.
I will forward your proposal to our feature request forum, where our developers will review and consider implementing it. We appreciate your input and look forward to discussing future enhancements.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
Thanks Carl for the update.
Hopefully it will be supported soon.
Best regards,
Hello,
At the moment, the best I can see is for you to use a Website entry in RDM to open it. Unless there are APIs to integrate this within our application, I don't believe it's possible for us to intercept this and open the RDP connection within RDM at the moment.
We will keep an eye out for additional feedback from our users who would like an integration for this, and if we see a way to do this in the future.

Hubert Mireault
