Fortinet SSL VPN Connection without Fortinet-Client (but with Sophos Connect)?!

avatar

Hello,

we use "Sophos Connect" for our OpenVPN connections.
One of our customers uses a fortinet firewall, which works well with the legacy Fortinet client.

We like to add the connection without using the legacy Fortinet client and like to use our existing Sophos Connect client.
We only have:

  • Destination IP
  • Destination Port
  • User
  • Password

Is there a way, to enter this data into the RDM/Sophos connect configuration?
I did only find a way, to import configuration files (.ovpn), but the Firewall provider does not offer these.

Any ideas/hints?

Best regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

That is a good puzzle here.

All the configurations of this entry require a file path.
When you use this VPN, is there any other way to start it?

With a command line or PowerShell.

This is an addon in RDM, and we usually use the CLI to launch the application with their requirement.

Hello Patrick,

I am not very familiar with the Fortinet Client, but I think, it may use a CLI.
The Sophos Client has a CLI, but I have no idea, if it can pass through IP, Port, User, PW via CLI to the sophos client.
As far as I read, that is not possible. The Sophos Connect client seems to need a .ovpn file.

But, as the Fortinet Client does support IP, Port, User, PW and another 3rd party client also, I hope(d), that
you or someone else on the forum does know some voodoo, to get it work with the Sophos connect client. ;-)

Unfortunately, I don't have more information on that.

Best regards,
Daniel
