Ribbon Bar size
Allow me to set the ribbon bar to a condensed version so it is not as high or thick as it is now. The latest version made it fatter/taller and not sure I like the real estate theft.

Could you please try resetting your RDM's layout under the Window tab and see if it changes back to its previous state? 
You can also change the view of the ribbon under File > Setting > Ribbon > Ribbon Style > Simplified.

Reset didn't change anything but ribbon style > simplified did.
