More integration with PAM

Hello,
There are some features in PAM (web) that we are missing from RDM GUI (PAM tab)

  • Reset password
  • Check Synchronization Status

  • When opening a connection that uses a PAM account, a check-out request windows is launched. Having the option to launch a check-in windows upon disconnect would also be a useful feature.

Simon

Hello,

All 3 features are now internally implemented, and will be included in our 2024.3 release.

For the automatic check in, a prompt will appear by default as soon as the last session using a specific PAM account is closed.

There will be a setting to remember your choice for all PAM accounts if you don't want to be prompted every single time, which will also be configurable in your account settings here :

Hello Simon,

Version 2024.3 is now available with these features. Let us know if you encounter any issue or if you're still lacking a certain functionality when it comes to this.

Hello again,
Another feature that would be appreciated is more error feedback. For example, whenever LDAPS communication breaks down between DVLS and a domain provider, RDM doesn't provide any useful feedback. The GUI just "blinks" as you try to launch a remote connection. However, this is only the case when we use Devolution Gateway in the Domain Provider configuration, so it might be more related to whenever gateway communication between DVLS and DVL GW breaks down.

When we don't use DVL GW in the Domain Provider configuration; launching connections, check-outs and even logon to the remote target is possible. Check-in fails with a generic data source error, prompting the user if they want to go to offline mode.

Can the error feedback in RDM be enhanced somehow?

Simon

Hi Simon,

Thank you for the feedback.
I'm sure we can do something to improve the error handling.
I have opened a ticket and will get back to you here once I have an update.

Hello David,
Any updates on this?

Hello Simon,

Thanks for your patience.

The ticket is still under revision.
One of the challenges we're encountering (and we think there is not much we can do) is when there is an LDAP timeout because the data source timeout will come up prior to the LDAP.

But error messages that can be improved will be.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,
