RBAC in RDM

avatar

Hi!
I'm using RDM (Enterprise ed.) from very long time.
But I always used as a single user. I always log in as a SuperAdministrator of the Datasource.

Now I want to test the RBAC of RDM and try to create 2 or 3 different user:

  • The SUperuser
  • The Consultant \ Operator (that can access to ALL folder and Session)
  • The Consultant \ Operator that can access only to a subset of folder and session

RDM Version 2023.1.23.0
My database is MSSQL and I think this DB support this feature.

I created a New user of type (Custom - Devolution) - That is a restricted user.
But If I insert this login data into the DATA SOURCE "general tab" - User & Pswd....

I always receive an error and cannot login as per newly created user....

What I'm doing wrong ?
Is there something I missing ?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,

I see, did you use your SA user when creating the Database and your first Administrator user? We have the following knowledge base article regarding this:
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/data-sources/data-sources-types/advanced-data-sources/microsoft-sql-server/configure/

I'm also wondering if you could attempt to use the Database option for the "Authentication" field when creating the user and let me know if you encounter the same issue.
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/commands/administration/management/user-management/

Best regards,
