RDP via SSH tunnel, why is it so complicated?

For years, I've been using Remmina to manage my SSH/SFTP/RDP connections on Ubuntu, but since I got the Mac Mini, I've been looking for something to use on all operating systems.
RDM is really well done with lots of useful features for what I do, but there's one thing we just don't have: RDP connection via SSH tunnel.
But how is it possible that you have to sit there and enter 35 addresses, tell it to connect to localhost and not the machine?
In Remmina, it's simple:

  • Set the machine to connect to
  • Set the machine that acts as the SSH tunnel
  • Connection made
  • The convenient thing is that I can connect to infinite machines.

Is this possibility available in RDM?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,

  • Could you please specify the version of RDM you are currently using?
  • What type of data source are you using?

That being said, it is indeed possible to use and configure an SSH Tunnel in RDM, we have the following knowledge base article regarding this:
https://docs.devolutions.net/kb/remote-desktop-manager/how-to-articles/setup-ssh-tunnel/#create-an-ssh-tunnel

The screenshots are from an older version of RDM but the process is the same,

Let me know if this helps,

Best regards,

Version 2024.1.12.0 on windows
Version 2024.1.0.6 on ubuntu
In remmina is very simple.

In Remmina, it's very simple and there's no need to create connections to localhost or "complicated" port forwarding.
You just need the IP of the Windows machine you want to connect to, the IP of the machine that will act as the SSH tunnel, and you're good to go.
Is it not possible to have something similar that is more "direct"?

Hello,

Thank you for your reply,

I see, I'm afraid the SSH Tunnel option I provided in my last reply would be the equivalent of this feature in RDM.

Perhaps using a VPN maybe be easier?

Let me know,
