Keyboard not working on PowerShell inside RDP server

While the keyboard works for apps like notepad, it does not work for PowerShell. Is that known?

Tried both GBoard and Samsung Keyboard.

Regards.

Hello,

Which version of PowerShell are you using (7, Core, in Windows Terminal, etc..) ? Also, could you try to edit your RDP entry, then navigate to "Local Resources" and enable "Send Input as unicode" and see if it works ?

Best regards,

I did try setting the send as unicode.
Yes it works from RDM from Windows.
Windows bundled PowerShell (should be 5.x).
Android version is 2025.1.0.39

Thank you,

We will investigate and get back to you as soon as possible.

Hello again,

We tried to reproduce your issue with Unicode on and off, using PowerShell (version 5.1) on Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012, but couldn't. Could you tell us your keyboard language and maybe send a short video showing the problem? Also, have you installed, activated, or deactivated any PowerShell modules?

Best regards,
Frederick Simard

It's a 2022, but I will try other OS and will make a video.

PowerShell is 5.1 as your test environment.

Tried both a Server 2019 and a Windows 10 and it's not reproducible. Seems to be tied to Windows 2022. O_O;

avatar

Thank you for your response.
We will set up a Windows Server 2022 and see if we can reproduce the issue.

I sent you a video by direct message so you see the issue.

I deployed PowerShell 7.4 and it works. So the problem is with the Windows bundled version (5.1.x). Server is up to date.

Hello again,

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, we weren't able to reproduce on our end connecting to a windows server 2022 computer using PowerShell 5.1.

Using PowerShell 5.1, could you tell us if the enter key is working ? Could you also tell us if the the CTRL key + C is working ? This will help us investigate the issue further.

Best regards,
Frederick Simard

Strange. Enter works and CTRL+C writes a ^C to the console.

Hello,

Could you install the Microsoft RDP application on your device and let us know if you are also able to reproduce this issue (Windows Server 2022 + PowerShell 5.1)?

Best regards,
Frederick Simard

It is the same for the Microsoft RDP Client. So it's something with this installation. It has nothing particular. Will try other 2022 next week.

Hello,

Unfortunately, since this seems to be a Windows OS related issue, there's not much we can do on our end.
