Its kinda weird. The host is MacOS, and I tested on two different clients, Win and IpadOs, with the same username and password.
On windows, I can successfully use VNC to control my Mac, but ARD cannot connect.
However on my ipad, I can use ARD without any problem, but VNC does not work.
Did I miss anything in the settings?
Hello jcle
That sounds strange indeed, and I don't think it sounds like you missed anything in the settings.
Just to confirm:
On Windows, the following might give us some more information:
Please, let me know if something isn't clear or you have further questions
Kind regards

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the late feedback, being a little busy.
However, ARD on windows RDM suddenly just works. That's good, but my ipad still cannot connect to my Mac with VNC. I even tried exporting *.rdm file from windows and imported it into ipad, stil showing unable to connect. Is there a way that I can enable logging on ipad?
Hello
Ok, what I suspect is happening is that we're not properly negotiating the authentication type (an Apple server will always explicitly want to use ARD authentication - username and password - unless we override that for a VNC connection; and the ARD authentication obviously won't work without a username).
I'm going to open a ticket for the RDM iOS team and someone will investigate that, and we'll post back here with an update.
In the meantime - for my own curiosity - is there a reason you want to connect with the VNC client instead of ARD? ARD should nearly always have better performance characteristics when connecting to a Mac.
Please, let me know if something isn't clear or you have further questions
Thanks and kind regards,

Hi,
I think I got your points, thanks for your patience and explanation.
As for the reason, it's more like simply testing if VNC works on Ipad or not, as I might need them to connect to Linux in the future. However, I currently have no rigs with linux installed, so I had to test it with a Mac host. Well, an accidental corner case?
Hello
an accidental corner case
Yes, it seems that way. We should get some feedback from the RDM iOS team and then we'll update this thread.
Thanks for your patience
Kind regards,
