SSH Connections crashes RDM if they are closed by rebooting the server
As my title simple says, if you create a SSH connection to our Linux based servers and we do a reboot on the server, normally RDM would just close the connection. But specifcally with SSH connections it just crashes RDM. This has happened for many months now.
We have 10 employees using RDM with the same datasource MsSQL. They all experience this issue. We experience the issue on all Linux based SSH connections.
If we SSH to the server and just close down the connection manually it works, it's only then we reboot the server it crashses.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,
Could you confirm your version of RDM?
I believe this issue was resolved in the remote recent versions of RDM.
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Hi,
We are using version 2023.3.39.0 64-bit, I have also noticed RDM crash if we leave RDM open for some time and the SSH connection timesout. If we then tries to press OK to the popup windows it just crashes
Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
If you go into your SSH Shell entry "Properties" under the in the properties of your SSH Session under the "Terminal" -> "Advanced" section is the option "Use SFTP Connection for remote file transfer currently enabled?
If so, I believe disabling it may help with your crash issue.
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery

Hi Samuel,
Yes we use this feature for all our linux based entries. We will test with this option disabled.
I have now tested and it does not crash then we disable the SFTP checkmark. However we use the SFTP alot it would be nice if it would not crash with it enabled
Hello,
Thank you for your reply,
Indeed, the fix for this issue should be included in RDM 2024.1.X, which is planned for release this week If there are no issues. You can follow our releases notes here:
https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/release-notes/
If you wish to update now, the Beta version is also available here:
https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/home/thankyou/rdmsetupbeta/
That being said, updating to this version will also require a database upgrade, we have the following knowledge base article regarding this:
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/installation/database-upgrade/
As mentioned, we highly recommend you create a backup before performing the upgrade so that it can be restored in case of any issues,
Let me know if you have further questions,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Great, Thanks Samuel!
