Hello, I created a Hyper-V dashboard for a cluster running on a remote site in a separate domain using the cluster FQDN, but it only shows the VMs that are running on the host that holds the failover cluster IP.
Same result when I use the cluster IP instead of cluster FQDN.
Tested this via RDM client connected to our central server (version 2023.3.39.0 64-bit) connected via VPN and cluster + node details in my local hosts file
Also tested via portable version inside remote network and remote domain where cluster and node details can be resolved via DNS, Portable version is also 2023.3.39.0 64-bit
Hello Hendrik,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,
I see, to clarify when connecting to the Hyper-v dashboard for this cluster outside RDM, you are seeing more than 1 Host is that correct?
Was this working for you without issues previously?
Let me know,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Hi Samuel, thank you for answering.
When I connect with the failover cluster manager I see all resources on all nodes, if that is waht you mean.
I had not used the RDM Hyper-V dashboard for before, only the VMware dashboard and that shows all the VMs.
Not sure if the Hyper-V dashboard was meant to display cluster information or if it is only meant to display VMs on a single host?
Best regards,
Hendrik Koetsier
Hello Hendrik,
Thank you for your reply,
Good question, I've reached out to our development team to confirm what the expected would be in this case,
I will keep you updated with any news I receive,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Hi Samuel,
Do you perhaps have an update from the dev team?
Would be nice if this would work for failover clusters and not just for single Hyper V hosts.
Thanks in advance.
Hendrik Koetsier
Hello Hendrik,
Thank you for your reply,
Unfortunately, I'm afraid I do not have any news regarding this, I've reached out to our development to see if they have anything for us.
I will keep you updated with any news I receive,
Best regards,
Samuel Dery
Hello Hendrik,
Support for Windows Failover Clusters has been added to the Hyper-V dashboard in RDM 2025.2. If you connect to any of the nodes in the cluster, RDM will automatically show the VMs on the other nodes, provided that each node has WinRM enabled.
Philippe
Hi Philippe,
Thank you for the update.
It now works as expected, many thanks.
Hendrik.
