RDM 2023.3.39.0 crash during startup

avatar

Hello,
apparently for no reason RDM crashes during starting up. It loads first two sessions, then it crashes.
No log files are written and no msg box is displayed.
Standalone version is working.
already tried to repair the installation with no luck
O.S. windows10 2009

Are there any CLI switch to load a clean session, or to write logfile ?

thanks in advance
best regards
Davide

Hello Davide,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,

Could you confirm which version of RDM you're currently using and your data source type?

With this information, I will be able provide you with the steps to create a fresh portable installation of RDM to see if you encounter the same behavior.

Let me know,

Best regards,

Samuel Dery

Hi Samuel,
in the meantime I have unistalled, cleaned up RDM related folders and registry entries and reinstalled. For now it is working, but if you explain how to create a fresh portable installation it is useful for me to the next time.

I'm working with 2023.3.39.0 64 bit and SQLite datasource.

thank you

Hello,

Here are the steps to create a portable installation.

1.      Download the .zip file from this link: https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2.      Create a new folder on your Desktop.
3.      Extract the contents of the .zip file into the folder you created in step #2.
4.      Navigate to this folder after extracting the .zip file and run "remotedesktopmanager.exe."

if you have any additional questions, concerns, or require further support, please let me know, and I'll be more than happy to help.

Best regards,

Carl Marien

Hello Carl and Samuel,
I have already tried a standalone RDM version (see my initial post).
BTW strangely it was only one session (which had always worked) that was crashing the program.

Thank you,

Hello,

Given that the issue appears to be isolated to a single entry, could you please attempt to recreate the issue and see if it persists?

In parallel, I will send you an invitation for a remote session via email.

Hello,
the problem occurs by setting up an embedded web session using chrome as browser. With Edge the problem does not appears.
Thank you for your helpfulness, but a remote session is not necessary, I solved it by using MS Edge.
if you want to investigate the problem, I can replicate it and attach the debug file, however, I need to know what debug level to set.

thank you
