Need the ability to set the Logon Credentials for an AD Sync from my Vault

Hi,

When I create an AD Sync, I need to specify credentials on the Login tab since I sync multiple domains. Currently I have to manually enter the username, domain, and password. When I change my password, I then have to come change this manually or it will stop working. It would be great to be able to select the credentials for the sync from my Vault. That way, when I update my stored credentials, the Sync will use them and everything should just keep working.

Thanks.

Hello,

It should already be possible to link to an existing credential entry, by configuring the section at the top of the settings in your Active Directory synchronizer:

Does this work for you?

Do those two sections do the same thing? I was filling it out in the Login tab since that's all the info about what gets used while the sync is running. I can try putting it in the top area instead and see what happens.

Yes, the section at the top is used to set the credentials that will be used for the synchronizer (or for any other entry that supports credentials). By default, it's set to "username and password" which allows you to write the credentials in the entry directly. This is why you were able to write the credentials in the Login section of your AD synchronizer. You can also configure it to link to an existing credential entry, or use inheritance for example, which would simplify credential management.

Ah great. I just gave that a try and it seems like it worked.
Thanks.
