Hello,
I used RDM for first time today and noticed something annoying and I wasn't able to fix yet.
I RDP to my Windows Machine, which locks after being inactive for certain amount of time.
When this happens, RDM closes the whole session making me reconnect. This is quite annoying as I need to logon again, making my Windows VPN reconnect
How can I keep the RDM session on the lockscreen?
Hello,
Which version of RDM are you using ?
I ask because we have a mouse jiggler feature in the latest version which may help prevent your RDP session from closing.
Best regards,
Hello,
I use 2023.3.37.0 64-bit. What does the mouse jiggler do?
Is there no way to just 'look' at the lock screen? And just me unlocking the RDP via ctrl-alt-del and putting in my password etc?
Hello,
The mouse jiggler feature will make it so the mouse cursor "jiggles" every few seconds in order to prevent the remote connection from going to sleep/locking/disconnecting.
To my knowledge, you can lock the connection manually by using the following option when the connection is open:
Once this is done you can select "lock" in your remote RDP session.

Hello,
That'd mean having the mouse int he session at all times. Not an option for me.
I am aware on how to lock my session via any RDM tool. It does not fix the issue I have with the devolutions RDM though.
The whole session gets disconnected.
If this is just the way Devolutions RDM works then I'll be looking to a different one.
No biggie!
Thanks for the replies.
Hi,
The RDP mouse jiggler has two available modes: mouse move and function key, and both work without needing the remote desktop window to be in focus. If the mouse move doesn't work, I suggest trying the function key mode instead, which sends F15 key events ignored by most applications, but still sufficient to a "jiggle".
Please keep in mind that while the RDP mouse jiggler solves most issues related to user inactivity, there can still be group policies in place that will force session locking or disconnection after a specified amount of time
