Dell iDRAC virtual console entry and virtual keyboard support

avatar

Hi there,

I've tried the new "iDRAC" entry to open the virtual console directly, and it works fine and can be really useful but, if you don't use one of the few iDRAC supported languages keyboard on your computer, you will not be able to digit many characters because of the lack of the virtual keyboard.

In iDRAC virtual console standard window (from the iDRAC web page), you have the ability to open the virtual keyboard window that let you digit (click) every char even if differently mapped on the English version. Inside RDM, this is missing.

iDRAC language/keyboard support is a pain and RDM can't do anything about it (I suppose), but not having this (even horrible) workaround is a complete fail for the new entry.

Hope to be useful in spotting grey areas.

Cheers.

Hello Nicola

Thank you for the feedback. The native DRAC connection is still pretty new so we appreciate the feedback.

I'll have to study the calls generated by using this feature in the web console (the protocol itself is closed source and specification). I'm creating a ticket for that and will link it back to this thread so we can let you know when there's an update.

Thanks again and kind regards,

Richard Markievicz
